Corina del Carmel born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, a state in Northern Mexico. After graduating, at 21, from the University of Nuevo Leon (UANL), with a degree in Visual Arts, Corina traveled throughout Mexico. Corinas prolific work goes from narrative paintings that evoke her Mexican birthplace offering a perspective of her homeland from the eyes of a native with a socio-political consciousness leaned after emigrating to California, to creations of inner and mystic journeys, influenced by living close to nature in the mountains of California, where she keeps her permanent studio. Since then, Corina has exhibited throughout the United States, Mexico and Europe, now living part of the year in Berlin, Germany from where she paints and organize her European exhibits. Art and travel have been interwoven to produce and international perspective. In spite of the weight of the Chicano Art issues and the new interest in California in Frida Kahlos work. Corinas paintings emerge as universal vision without the conflict of identity Corinas art has always spoke to the now... Always there has been a message behind the beauty...behind the illusive reality of her art...behind the very brush strokes. Corinas art is for everyone because it speaks of everyone...look deeply...you will see more than you see.
